Le Domino Day est de retour en novembre 2020

UPDATE 09/09/2020: Domino Day again postponed to an unspecified date

Good news! The legendary Domino Day, the show that attempts to break the world record for falling dominoes, returns after an 11-year absence.

Yesterday, EndemolShine came out with the message on their Facebook and Instagram page. The programme will be broadcast on RTL 4 in the Netherlands. It has not been revealed whether any foreign channels have bought the rights, as was the case in previous editions.

Between 1998 and 2009, the Domino Day show took place annually in November. With the exception of 2007, the world record has been broken every time. The current record stands at 4,491,863 fallen dominoes, and was set during the last edition in 2009.

The 2009 edition was the last for the time being, because in the spring of 2010, producer Endemol announced that there would be no edition that year. The reason was the lack of sponsors due to the financial crisis. The intention was to organise a new edition in 2011, but due to the bankruptcy of Weijers Domino Productions, the main company behind the event, there was ultimately no next edition of Domino Day.

Endemol has also already opened a vacancy page to search for contributors to the show. If you would like to be a builder in this great domino show, now is your chance!

In the meantime, you can take a look at the footage from the last edition of Domino Day, when the world record was set at over 4.4 million dominoes toppled!
